The PristonTale Free Server Project
Mission and Vision
A summary of all the thoughts and plans of all the supporters of PTFSP
Why are we here? What is our purpose?
If you were like me and the rest 99.9% population of PristonTale members, chances are you won't be able to play PristonTale after the P2P has been implemented. Whether you don’t have the cash, not willing to play 13$ for an incomplete game, or just don’t have a credit card, is all regardless. The fact of the matter is, unlike other MMORPGs, PristonTale didn’t even have enough courtesy to inform us ahead that they were planning to go Pay2Play (P2P). We didn’t work hard on our characters just so the Admin can delete them! This is most unfair and unacceptable. We are here to make a Free PristonTale Server, so people who would or could P2P will still be able to play PristonTale.
To put it simple: We are going to start our own PristonTale Server, and it’ll be free for all!
A brief history of Free Server Projects
I know perfectly well that a lot of you people want to play for free but are scared of the legal issues! We’re all scared to death, but the thing is, there are thousands of people out there who are willing to support the PristonTale Free Server Project (PTFSP) despite their fears. Not to underestimate the PT Admin but, I’m sure they would get better English speaking people first before they start hunting all the thousands of people who will try to make PTFSP possible.
PristonTale Free Server Project isn’t the first FSP. There have been a lot of precedents in other games. Ragnarok (Considered by many as the most internationally known MMORPG has had a lot of FSPs (www.ro2life.com being one of them). Everquest and a lot others have been FSPed too! In this light, why not support the PTFSP?
Who we need!
We need all the people who still want to play PT for free! Whether you are a hacker, programmer, server host or just a player, we NEED you!
What you can do!
We are just getting started so there are a LOT of things to do! Everybody has a job!
Hackers: Congregate with your fellow hackers and plan how to get the server source code.
Programmers: Plan how to modify the server and client programs.
Server Hosts and Supporters (in other words, EVERYBODY ELSE!): ADVERTISE this forum! We need a lot of people to make this work! Every PT player should know this!
Moral Implications
“The Admin need to eat too,” “It’s a great game, they should be paid!” “All MMORPG goes P2P sooner or later,” “What about all their hard work?” “It’s ethically unsound.”
Being a fellow programmer myself, I don’t really think much of the people who hack other programs. I wouldn’t want that to happen to myself. But the point is other MMORPGs like MU Online and Ragnarok announced to EVERY player that what they were about to play was just a Beta version and that they will have to pay sooner or later; PristonTale did not! People were led to believe what they were about to play was free forever. You may say that being able to play this game for free for 2 years should be enough, but I just downloaded this game 2 days before the P2P announcement. What about like us? I have a 56k modem, it took a lot of cash and time to download the program they’re refusing to let me play anymore! And what about the people who can’t afford to pay13$/month? Well, I’m sure thousands are with me when I say “We won’t stand for it!”
Legal Implications
This is probably, if not definitely, illegal. But come on! Thousands of people will be playing this illegal version of the game, and we have no plans whatsoever to ruin any of the PT Admin’s property. We are not here to wreak havoc on their website or bring down their servers. We are just going to get their game and play on our own with our own FREE server. Just like the Ragnarok 2 life project, ro2life.com.
As we speak now, hundreds of people are planning this right now. This forum isn’t the only one setting up a TPFSP.
Where do we start?
Start by getting as much players to support this as you can!
